Integration of Siebel CRM and Google Maps eases vehicle transport process

The assistance department of Swiss insurance uses Oracle Siebel CRM as a main claim resolving system. Recently, there has been a requirement to extend their vehicle transport process within CRM. The aim of the extension of the process was integration with Google Maps geocoding and route planner services, allowing users to see vehicle transportation routes represented by Siebel Activity entity in Google Maps.
The process can be described as follows, assistance user registers claim event. To arrange vehicle transport, he creates a service request with the start and destination places. To calculate costs, user needs to know the distance of the vehicle transport route as well as the direction of the route itself. To retrieve this information, user has to switch to Google Maps, to geocode locations, and then let Google Maps calculate distance and route plan. All these activities consume time. Our integration allows all these functionalities within one click in applet. Furthermore it can display more routes in one map, what provides users complete overview of vehicle transportation routes within certain period of time. The routes are colored distinguished based on the status of the transport activity (open, in progress, done).
