We would like to share our opinion why in 2021 it is essential to upgrade Oracle Siebel CRM to version 21.X.

Oracle has a clear, open and intensive roadmap for Oracle Siebel CRM and every months introduces innovations. The current goals is Oracle Siebel CRM on Kubernetes, KAFKA integration, autonomous CRM and fully cloud compatible TA.

1. Parallel Development and Deployment for Workflows (20.7+).

This feature enables full parallel development and deployment capabilities for Workflows including execution, simulating and monitoring via the Runtime Repository
Workspace inspect (Preview) to support parallel development for Workflows
Migration of Workflows from Design Repository to Runtime Repository via RR tables.
Rollback support for WFs via RR version Rollback.

This new feature brings huge acceleration for the development for the complex implementations where intensive Workflow development is used. Typical example is Order Management in the telco vertical.

2. REST – Siebel REST Outbound Redesign (20.8+)

REST API is very often the main lifecycle reason to upgrade Oracle Siebel CRM, with version 20.8+ the Open API 2.0 is supported. Finally arrays, enums, query params are supported according to Open API 2.0.

3. Web Tools enhancements

Webtools with 20.12+ enabled Workflow Editor. This feature provides the ability to create, edit, and maintain Workflow Processes in the Web Tools application.

Script Editor and Debugger with 20.11+ provides a web-based user interface with all the features of the original Siebel Tools editor and a few more such as better automatic formatting to make code easier to understand and edit. The Debugger is implemented via a new Windows Service or Unix Daemon to handle communication between the Web Tools Object Manager and the Application Object Manager allowing communication between the components.

4. Oracle 19c (Oracle Autonomous Database) Certification

The Oracle Autonomous Database has now been certified for the Siebel CRM application. Oracle Autonomous Database is a family of cloud services that redefines database management by using machine learning and automation to eliminate mundane maintenance tasks (provisioning, backups, updates etc) and manual tuning. It reduces cost and complexity while ensuring higher reliability, security and more efficiency for mission criticals DBs.

5. Enhanced Siebel CRM Smartphone UX

A new framework and user experience for Siebel Open UI, which enables the application to function seamlessly on the latest Smartphone mobile devices. Enhanced with the Redwood theme, all applets in any Siebel application view are managed using an accordion panel, tile visualization for all List Applets with max 9 fields in the Tile applet.
